FLU AND COVID VACCINATIONS

You will be aware from media reports of the disruption to the deliveries of the Flu Vaccines to GP Practices.  We have now received part of our order and have issued invitations to the priority cohorts of patients.

This year we are going to offer a Covid Booster Vaccine to those patients who are eligible under the JCVI Guidelines.  Where possible these Boosters will be offered at the same time as the Flu Vaccination, however only to patients who had their 2nd Covid Vaccination more than 6 months ago.

If you had your 2nd Covid Vaccination less than 6 months ago, please do not worry.  Come for a Flu Vaccination when we invite you, and we will invite you for a Covid Booster at a later date.

Please note that GP Practices are not giving Covid Vaccines to children and young people, unless they have been on the Shielding List.

BLOOD BOTTLE SHORTAGES

We have been informed by the welsh Government there is a UK wide shortage of blood bottles due to a problem with the manufacturer.

ONLY ESSENTIAL blood tests will be booked for the forseeable future. Please note if you have a blood test already booked the GP will be reviewing whether these are essential and we may be in contact with you to postpone your appointment.

This shortage is temporary and expected to last up to 3 months. This does mean that some tests will be postponed until the national stocks recover.

Those patients with the highest risk or clinical need will still receive the blood tests they need, however routine blood tests will be postponed.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this and thank you for your patience while we work to provide the best health care for our patients.
